The pre-app helps us provide more information about our processes; from graduation, to the our re-testing policies. The pre-app should answer some of your burning questions! Feel free to reach out to us with any additional questions you have and we are more than happy to assist you.

As outlined in the pre-app, Legacy may ask you for a number of items such as proof of financial ability to care for the dog and a doctor's note outlining your possession of a disability. It is always appreciated for these to be readily available, when we reach out, to help the process move along! For information about what exactly we would like, feel free to send us an email.

So you got approved! Now what? Well.. you wait! We will not place our dogs on a first-come first-served basis. Once our dogs complete Phase 3, we carefully match each dog to a handler, and task training begins! Once we believe the dog is ready to graduate, we fly/drive out to you and complete team training week! You will complete a public access test at the end, and the dog is yours!

Within the first year of placement, we have all of our teams complete a re-test. The public access test is done again to ensure the placement has been successful and there are not any concerns. Re-tests are every 24 months following this. Please keep in mind, we are ALWAYS available for concerns. Program dogs have our support through the lifetime of the dog, and with each successor dog through Legacy.
